Local ultraviolet irradiation

Local ultraviolet irradiation extensively uses bactericidal effect of UVI. There are two types of action: direct and indirect bactericidal effect of UV rays. The direct action results in coagulation and denaturation of proteins of microorganisms on the surface of a wound, mucus membrane that destroys the bacterial cell. Indirect action of UV rays is associated with a change of immunobiological responsiveness of the body under the influence of UV rays. Due to its multi-lateral action, UVI is extensively used in preventive care and treatment of a wide range of diseases.
